All new products are subject to thorough testing by myself, Jen Murphy. I only test on one side of my face from a period of a few days (if it creates sensitivities) to 45 days (the period it takes to see brand-new regrowth of skin on a middle-aged woman). Some of these products will make the grade for my professional kit, whilst others I will enjoy using on myself, and yet others are given away to a less picky friend.
We are all unique snowflakes
I give my very honest opinion about each and every product represented on the Be Yourself Beautiful website, YouTube channel and social media accounts. These opinions are backed up by facts culled from my vast education & knowledge. However, the skin tone and skin type descriptions I write about these shades and products do not fit everyone. Nor will you necessarily like a product that I rate highly. That is why every retailer linked to from these pages has a no-questions-asked return policy for either a full refund or exchange. You can read about their return policies, samples, etc at the bottom of each of the product pages. You're satisfaction is guaranteed by them.
Test Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself
PATCH TEST FOR SENSITIVITIES on the inside of your wrist! Sensitivities to products can cause all sorts of problems and can even change over time to become full-blown allergies.
Only natural and organic here
The products represented on this website are advertised by the brands themselves and their retailers as natural and/or organic. I feature products I think are the purest and most efficacious (that is, true performers). That said, sometimes a product or line that touts themselves as such may be lacking in either purity or performance. I have taken it on as my job to give my honest informed opinion of them as a beauty expert without harshly criticizing. My general product philosophy is that people should buy according to their needs and principles, and sometimes needs outweigh principles. It is not for me to say what any person should buy, just to give very clear information about what is in these products and how they perform. Also, I'm not a fan of consumerism for the sake of itself, so you won't catch me making videos about "beauty hauls."
The Choice is Yours
Even though I would like to say that these products range in price from the very affordable (drugstore) to the very expensive (boutique), good organic ingredients cost more and products made with them will come at a higher price to the consumer. It is your job after reading these pages to discern whether it is worth it to you to always buy the higher rated, sometimes buy higher quality/price (like for skincare but not makeup), or if it's not worth the money spent at all. That choice is always yours.
Who Pays for the Products?
The products I use in my videos, write about on Product Pages and in Reviews, and feature across my social media channels are either purchased by me or sent to me by cosmetic companies to review at no cost to myself. If it is the case that I was sent products free of cost the brand knows that there is absolutely no guarantee I will give them a good review or feature them. However, if I conclude that a product has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, I will not review it at all. Having worked in the makeup industry for 25 years I am extremely discerning about products and how they work across many skin tones and skin types, yet I have no desire to trash the reputation of a brand or product. Who Pays for the Website?
You may notice that there are no ads on my video channels or website. I do not accept, or have ever accepted, sponsorship or product placement fees for any of my videos, reviews or social media posts. There is a reason for this beyond just not wanting to annoy you: I do not wish to confuse you by showing ads for products I would never endorse next to products that I do endorse just to make a quick buck. The culmination of information on this website has been a labor of love for over 10 years. I have spent my own time and money to make this happen and will no doubt continue to do so. However, some of the links in these websites, video comment sections, and social media posts are affiliate links (that means that I may make a commission from the brands I feature via affiliate programs if you choose to purchase a product by following my link). These affiliate programs and any donations made to Be Yourself Beautiful ("Donate" box in the footer below) are what support that labor of love which gets this information out to the public and keeps more of it coming.

What Do We Do with Your Information?
When you opt-in for newsletters or give us a donation we collect the personal information you give us such as your name and email address, but we don't share your information with anyone else.
Subscribing to our newsletter grants us permission to send you emails concerning new web pages, videos, product deals, and other general updates. You may choose to unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email from us.
Consent
When you provide us with personal information to opt-in for our newsletter, we infer that you consent to our collecting it and using it for the specific reason of conveying the aforementioned information.
If after you opt-in you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent for us to contact you, for the continued collection, use or disclosure of your information at anytime by contacting us at jen@BeYourselfBeautiful.
Third-Party Services
In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us. These providers include Mailchimp to subscribe and unsubscribe to our newsletter, Squarespace who provides our web service, Stripe for donations, and the following affiliate marketing programs: Linkshare and Share-a-Sale.
